Pray and Act for Burma!

Thank you for viewing our page. We invite you to support our work.

The Burma Advocacy Group was created in December 2021 by Burma Diaspora Baptist Conventions in the US and the American Baptist Churches. It now includes diaspora community groups and other allies to address concerns related to US policy regarding support for the democratic movement in Burma, immigration, humanitarian relief, and accountability for human rights abuses, especially those related to religious liberty. The Burma Advocacy Group is one of the few organizations addressing the persecution of Christians in Burma.

The military junta that overthrew the elected government of Burma in 2021, spent $3,000,000 this summer to hire a DC lobbying group to whitewash its horrible record on human rights and religious liberty and to dress it up to make it appear legitimate in the eyes of US policy makers. To counter them, we have only the voices of the Burma diaspora and its friends in the US.

What sets us apart from other advocacy groups?

  1. Our contacts within Burma through the US diaspora are unparalleled by any other group.
  2. We are a grassroots organization with diaspora leaders serving in 8 of 13 positions on our Steering Committee
  3. Our district-based strategy implemented through our broad coalition has significantly stimulated grassroots engagement locally and nationally. Our efforts were credited by many as a key factor in the passage of the Burma Bill of 2022.
  4. We conduct training and offer education about immigration related concerns for the US diaspora community.
  5. We are one of the few voices presenting the outsize impacts of the attacks by the junta against the Christian community in Burma.
  6. We are a trusted voice both within the US diaspora and among those active in the movement for religious liberty, and the establishment of a federal democracy in Burma.
  7. Except for this new position, we are all volunteers who give of our skills and time because of our love for Burma.

Please join us in our effort to raise $100,000 for our work. Your gift of $25, $100, $500, $1,000 or more will bolster our efforts for the people of Burma and the US Burma diaspora community.
